AutoMate BPA Server

Published By:

Network Automation Inc

AutoMate Business Process Automation (BPA) Server is a multi-tiered platform for Windows automation, meaning it logically separates high-level workflow design from the complexity of building detailed automation routines. It provides centralised control over event-driven automation routines involving one machine or the entire enterprise.

AutoMate BPA Server provides organisations with greater control of their networks and operations, enhancing security and reliability. With its 'no code' approach, development costs can be slashed up to 50% while minimising long-term code maintenance problems. Organisations use AutoMate BPA Server to dramatically improve the capability and productivity of their workforces.

Features

Workflows

Graphical workflows are the cornerstone of AutoMate BPA Server. A workflow (or flow diagram) is a high-level graphical representation of an IT or business process, which might involve processing on multiple servers across the network.

Management Console

Featuring a modern and intuitive interface, capabilities include: Management of workflows, repository objects, users, agents, reporting, real-time execution status, and settings for the server.

Task Builder

The new Task Builder supports a customizable Available Actions list, multiple document support, find and replace, stack viewer and improved action search with filtering for quickly finding a desired action.

Repository

Objects created in AutoMate BPA Server, such as a task, are automatically stored in the Repository. Reusing an object is as easy as clicking the repository button and dragging the existing object into a workflow.

User Accounts

The Enterprise Version of AutoMate BPA Server includes a role-based user access system. Passwords may either be maintained by BPA Server or authenticate to Windows/Active Directory.

Multi-Machine Execution

Unlike competing systems which allow users to assign a whole workflow or job to run on a remote agent, BPA Server takes the approach a step further, allowing each distinct task or condition to run on different agents within the same workflow.

Conditions

Conditions can be used to 'trigger' (start) a workflow or task, as well as at any point inside a workflow to perform an evaluation or wait for a condition before proceeding.

Over 230 Actions

Available actions include extensive support for: XML, FTP/SFTP, file management, SQL, email, Active Directory, WMI, HTTP, PGP and Cryptography, DLL Calls, VB Scripts, Excel, GUI automation, Terminal Emulation, Telnet, SNMP, many more.

Microsoft Excel Integration

Microsoft Excel is an application commonly automated by our users. Excel spreadsheets can be easily converted into an AutoMate dataset for easy manipulation.

Window Dissection Technology

AutoMate's ability to literally 'see' inside of windows and controls allows you to integrate external application even when no API is exposed.

FTP & Secure FTP (SFTP)

Native support for SFTP, SSL FTP and Tumbleweed for secure and efficient file transfers over the Internet.

Database Connectivity

Connect via OLEDB to any SQL compliant datasource query and take action based on the results using the powerful Loop Dataset and IF actions.

Active Directory

Most active directory operations can now be automated with the ability to create, modify, rename, delete, move and list.

Terminal Emulation

Native terminal emulation- Automate tasks to existing legacy systems without third-party terminal emulation software and tedious 'screen-scraping' operations.

File Manipulation

File actions enable automation of file and folder commands such as copy, move, rename, delete, etc. These actions also allow data to be read from and written to files.

Web Services

Harness the power of cloud computing through the Web Service action. Use it to listen for and send web service SOAP requests.

POP3, SMTP, & Exchange

Easily and intelligently retrieve and/or remove e-mail messages from a POP3 mail box, send SMTP mail, and work with Exchange.

Licensing

Licensing Model

Network Automation products are licensed on a per machine basis. Each machine used for management, development, or execution of an automated business processes using BPA Server will require a license. Below is a brief description of each licensed product part of the AutoMate BPA Server 7 solution:

  • Server - The Server provides all of the management and reporting capabilities for AutoMate BPA Server 7 including the Server Management Console.
  • Development Tools - The Development Tools are used to create the actual automated processes and include the Workflow Designer and Task Builder.
  • Client Access License - Each Client Access license enables the use of an Agent for execution of tasks and workflows on one machine.

The purchase of AutoMate BPA Server 7 includes 1 Server for management capabilities, 1 set of Development Tools for the development of Tasks and Workflows, and 1 Client Access License (CAL) for execution of tasks workflows. Additional Development Tools and Client Access Licenses are sold separately.

Editions

Standard vs. Enterprise Edition

AutoMate BPA Server 7 offers two editions: Standard and Enterprise. The Enterprise Edition offers all the features found in the Standard Edition along with the following:

Unlimited Number of Agents

AutoMate BPA Server 7 allows for the centralised management of tasks and workflows over your network. Enterprise Edition places no limit on Client Access License (CAL) registrations to a server, while Standard Edition has a limit of 10.

User Accounts

For any organisation with multiple people involved in the automation lifecycle, Enterprise Edition can create an account for each user and assign a role to restrict what changes the user can make to the system.

User Roles and Object Promotion

User accounts and roles enable tight control automation projects throughout the automation lifecycle- from initial development, to testing, to full scale production. Workflows and a tasks can have a completion state (In Development, Testing, Production or Archive) assigned to them.

Workflow and Task Auditing

Enterprise Edition enables tracking of activities in BPA Server 7, such as user connection, workflow/task creation, and deletion. Monitoring activities helps enforce internal compliance, and otherwise prevents tampering of mission-critical tasks and workflows.
