New Features

New in NetOp 6.01 (released May 26th 2009)

• Support for two teachers - the latest release of NetOp includes support for 2 teachers in the classroom. Whilst one teacher is demonstrating, the second teacher can observe or take control of pupil's computers, instant message pupils (with video and voice support), transfer files to and from pupils computers and more. This functionality is available free in NetOp School and does not require purchase of a separate licence.

• Innovative interface streamlines teaching: NetOp School’s new intuitive interface is designed to reduce interruptions in workflow and help teachers achieve results faster. Frequently used commands are readily accessible, and the interface may be easily customized to meet individual teaching needs and preferences.
• Improved lesson planning workflow: Creating and editing lessons with NetOp School 6.0 is easier than ever before.
• Access recorded content from the toolbar: Drop down lists show the lessons you’ve recorded, making it simple to replay for multiple classes, or students who missed a lesson.

• Export test results: Student test results may now be exported from NetOp School in a variety of formats, for incorporation into grade books and other programs.

Present and demonstrate

• Show what's on your screen to all your pupils’ individual screens and lock their keyboards and mice during the demonstration
• Support for audio and sound allows you to play video during the demonstration. NetOp School supports avi, mpg, mpeg and wmv video formats
• Record the demonstration as you do it so that it can be played back later

Guide and teach

• Observe pupils computer screens - either as a rotation through each individual screen or all at once as thumbnails
• Help out pupils by temporarily taking control of their computers and control their mouse and keyboard
• Use instant messaging, audio and video to remotely communicate with pupils

Web and Application Control

• Limit Web access entirely, or on a site-by-site basis and easily apply the settings to specific pupils, groups or classes

• Use port blocking to block the commonly used ports for instant messaging applications effectively preventing their use

Focus attention

• Built in 'attention feature' blanks pupils screens and locks the keyboard and mouse - for the entire class, for a specific group, or for an individual
• Launch any application, document or web page on pupils computers
• Create folders for distribution of class work and store completed class work there or use the drag and drop file manager to easily transfer documents to pupils
• Wake-on-LAN, log off, shut down or restart pupils computers

Aid collaboration

• Let pupils temporarily take control of a demonstration to teach what they know
• Start group instant messaging/audio and video conversations moderated by the teacher
• Create pupil-led workgroups where either the teacher or a nominated pupil can easily do demonstrations or send messages to those in the group

Prepare lessons

Evaluate student progress

• Create tests, quizzes and surveys with a range of question types including multiple choice and essay questions
• Start a test by simply dragging and dropping - you can see the progress of students and set test time limits
• Test scores are automatically calculated as the test progresses - choose whether to send the test results to pupils and optionally export the results

Customisable interface

• New 'ribbon' based interface emulates that of Microsoft Office 2007. The ribbon can be completely customised including adding, removing, renaming and reorganisation tabs and groups, create custom keyboard shortcuts, change the colour scheme and more.
• Personalised favourites menu keeps your regularly used features close at hand

Licensing

Software modules

• Teacher module - installed on a teacher's computer and provides the teacher with control of the classroom.
• Student module - installed on computers in the classroom/lab that will be used by students.
• Netop Gateway - a module offering routing of Netop traffic across protocols. The Netop Gateway serves as a central point of access across networks and protocols (UDP, http, etc.), e.g. by routing Netop traffic across protocols. Particularly useful in providing flexibility for Terminal Services environments.
• Netop Name Server - enables resolution of Netop names even with dynamically allocated IP addresses. Facilitates communication across the Internet.
• Netop Class Server - facilitates connections between Teacher and Student modules in environments where computers are moved around while changing subnets. Provides best in class support for one-to-one school computing environments, or for use in any school where extensive numbers of students have laptop computers.

Netop Advantage Program (NAP)

The Netop Advantage Program (NAP) provides annual support and upgrade protection for Netop products. Every new Netop software licence purchase includes one year of Advantage support and upgrades and can be renewed after 12 months. The Netop Advantage Program (NAP) features:

Netop Open License Program (NOLP)

The Netop Open License Program is available for 100+ licence purchases. By purchasing on NOLP you get one serial number per Netop module and 12 months maintenance and upgrade protection (NAP) which can be renewed annually. Additional licences can be added to a NOLP if there is active NAP maintenance.
