Management console improvements

The improved management console features better usability and an updated look and feel. High-visibility toolbar buttons have been added to allow quick access to frequently-accessed areas.

Windows Firewall auto-configuration

VIPRE will now automatically provision the Windows Firewall configuration with the necessary exclusions. This allows for easier deployment by ensuring that the agent is able to successfully communicate and obtain updates, without requiring manual intervention to adjust the Windows Firewall settings.

Easier remote site management

Connect to and access multiple sites remotely without compromising security.

Incompatible software removal

Easily and quickly remove previous antivirus products to avoid conflicts during installation. This helps mitigate the risk of having multiple antivirus products coexisting on a single computer.

Integrated database

The new built-in database removes the requirement of Microsoft SQL Express 2005 that existed in previous versions.

Server auditing

Audits all changes made to the network AV settings including who, what and when. This helps to ensure policy enforcement and compliance.

VIPRE Antivirus Business utilises an advanced technology stack to scan large volumes of information quickly with minimal impact on system performance. The solution detects and blocks viruses, worms, spyware, Trojans, bots and rootkits via a single, powerful anti-malware engine.

Antivirus, anti-phishing email security

VIPRE Antivirus Business protects against email viruses, with direct support for Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail and any email program that uses POP3 or SMTP. Additionally, the solution strips emails of phishing links – blocking access to phishing websites.

Real-time monitoring and protection

VIPRE Antivirus Business monitors and protects against malware threats, including zero-day threats, in real time. It leverages multiple detection methods, such as dynamic code translation, heuristics, behavioural analysis and traditional, signature-based technologies, to analyse malware:

• Cobra heuristics – Determines if a sample is malware through dynamic pattern assessment and tags those identified as malware for further analysis
• Active Protection – Blocks threats in real time with malware detection inside the Windows kernel
• MX-Virtualisation (MX-V) – Observes and analyses the behaviour of potential malware in a virtual environment.

Threat definition updates for VIPRE Antivirus Business incorporate live threat data from GFI Labs and other sources:
