The most important factor of a successful project management is the transparent presentation of all planning information. All project members have to be able to view the decisive data of the relevant project plans anytime in a simple and efficient manner. In all projects there is staff involved, which are not actively integrated into the planning process, but merely have to view the up to date planning data and report their progress on the assigned tasks to the project manager.

View Project Plans

Afinion Project-Viewer visualises plans in Microsoft Project format (mpp) as well as of SAP PS. You neither need Microsoft Project nor SAP PS. You don’t even need a SAP GUI.
Afinion Project-Viewer opens files in the original Microsoft format (mpp) and in databases (Access, SQL, Project Server). It is compatible with Microsoft Project 98 to 2003.
If the project manager has used custom views (e.g. a company specific view), these will be displayed in Afinion Project-Viewer.
Afinion Project-Viewer adopts the columns with the custom headings as defined by the project planner.
Afinion Project-Viewer is the only viewer that displays the dependencies in the GANNT view.
Afinion Project-Viewer adopts the bar chart formats and labelling as defined in the Microsoft Project bar chart views.
Afinion Project-Viewer allows free definition of the date format in the table.
Afinion Project-Viewer shows project definitions, pert charts, WBS elements and activities from SAP PS (Windows Version only).
Afinion Project-Viewer always displays the actual status, no import/export needed.
In Afinion Project-Viewer you can define the time scale freely, so that you can view your activities on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
Time Recording

Two modes for Time Recording:
Mode 1: All members of the resource pool are allowed to report work hours.
Mode 2: Only resources assigned to the project are allowed to report work hours.
The project manager decides who can report his work hours on which activities.
Actual hours and % complete are shown directly on each activity without modifying the plan.
Every project member directly sees his/her work portfolio in the Afinion Project-Viewer and can then plan his work accordingly.
The Red Light function of Time Recording is available automatically.
No plan modification by Time Recording as in Web-Access.
Employee cost can be calculated directly in Microsoft Project.
Other Features

Afinion Project-Viewer runs as a Java application, so that you will not need a complex installation. You neither need a browser nor any other viewer.
Afinion Project-Viewer runs as application or as service.
Afinion Project-Viewer runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Unix. The Windows distribution contains Sun Java runtime, the other versions require a separate Java runtime installation. The required Java runtime can be downloaded free from the Sun webpage.
Afinion Project-Viewer can directly enter the activities assigned to a resource into its Outlook® folder.
Afinion Project-Viewer disposes of a Server Mode.
You can print plans in sizes from A4 to A0, only limited by the available printers and plotters.
Afinion Project-Viewer can be easily integrated into your company software distribution.
Afinion Project-Viewer is independent of the language. Languages currently available are English, German, Dutch and Italian.
French, Swabian, Swiss German and Lëtzebuergesch have been added to Afinion Project-Viewer. Other languages may be supplied on request at short notice.
Afinion Project-Viewer now supports Korean, Chinese and Japanese character sets.
