Features

Powerful, accurate OCR technology

Convert your paper based documents and image files to fully editable, fully formatted text documents. With highly accurate recognition technology, even on documents such as faxes, and the retention of formatting of tables and images, FineReader allows you to move to electronic documents with no retyping or reformatting.

Unique ADRT technology

Adaptive Document Recognition Technology (ADRT) is a technology specific to ABBYY that intelligently analyses multi-page documents and can accurately reconstruct the original layout. ADRT can reconstruct complex features such as headers and footers, page numbering, captions, footnotes, table of contents and more and export them to Microsoft Office.

Digital image recognition

Produce OCR text from digital photographs captured by cameras or even camera phones (2MP+ photo size required). FineReader provides a number of tools to adjust digital photos before processing to ensure the highest quality image for OCR processing. This includes: ISO noise correction, blurred image correction, image deskewing and despeckling, line straightening and more.

Multi-lingual support

OCR technology recognises over 180 languages including a variety of Latin and Cyrillic languages, Greek, Armenian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Hebrew, and Korean. FineReader automatically identifies the appropriate languages and supports spell-checking capabilities for 39 languages (and supports Microsoft Office Word's custom dictionary).

Easy to use interface

Quick Tasks allow you to quickly select the required task and get the converted file with just a mouse click. The automated Quick Tasks dramatically reduce amount of steps typically required to process a document and helps to increase productivity.

Integrates with Microsoft Office

Export your OCR documents to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat or Reader. In addition, recognised text can be saved in a variety of file formats, including PDF, PDF/A, HTML, Microsoft Word XML, DOC/DOCX, RTF, XLS/ XLSX, PPTX, CSV and TXT. You can also launch FineReader directly from Office.

PDF Support

Save OCR documents to a text-based PDF that makes text search and retrieval easy. New PDF compression methods help to decrease the size of the produced PDF file whilst retaining the visual quality and the low file sizes and optimised content mean they can be published on the Web. FineReader also supports the creation of password-protected PDF files and other permission settings and complies with the latest encryption standards.

Barcode Recognition

ABBYY FineReader reads both 1-D and 2-D barcodes. It recognises a barcode and displays its value.

High speed processing

FineReader leverages the full potential of multi-core processors to recognise multipage documents with maximum efficiency provided you have a multi-core processor. This feature is especially useful for high-volume document conversion.

FREE - Screenshot Reader

Capture areas of the screen (make screenshots) and recognise text and tables on them. Screenshot Reader is also an ideal “quick OCR' tool when you want to pull small quotes or a few sentences of text from a PDF or image file.
